Today started out pretty good, but then it got a little bit bummerish. Katie had a tiny bit of goop in her eye yesterday, but it was only after a nap, so I didn't think too much about it. Then this morning she had full on goober city in her eye. Poor little thing. When I went in to get her she had her usual huge smile on her face, but it was rather pathetic because her poor little eye was gooped shut. Thankfully my next door neighbor had some eye drops that get rid of that sort of thing. I was trying to figure out where in the world she would have gotten a yucky eye from, but then I remembered, "Right, she's got 2 big brothers that occasionally get caught poking at her eyes for their own amusement". Now, we do wash hands at my house (Nicholas is a well trained machine), but little boys have grubby hands just because they're little boys, even if they were sitting in a completely anti-bac free white room in their Sunday best their little finger would be digging in a nostril or something. Then bummer number 2 is that after I dropped Nickelby off at preschool I started feeling symptoms of a very unfriendly cold virus that Steve is just getting over. I am okay being sick (well it's not my favorite thing) when it's a sickness that I can still keep going with, but I am such a freak about the thought of my kids getting sick. I will fully admit that I am a downright germaphob (did I spell that right? You get the idea) about my kids. Anytime one of them so much as coughs my stomach tightens and I start to think the worst. I really need to relax, but it is what it is. Anyway, other than that my day has been great!
Nicholas is learning a new song in preschool each week about how to spell different colors and they are downright hilarious! After just last week he can now write his name all by himself. I am thinking this preschool thing is the best idea ever! It's so exciting to see what he can do.
Matthew is going through the most terrible two's phase ever! He is so incredibly proud that when he falls down and gets hurt, instead of crying about it he jumps up and tries to act like it never happened, and if you acknowledge it he will get embarrased, look at you with the evil eye and say "No!" and walk away. And to get him to do anything I have to give him the impression that it was his idea and that he will be doing it himself. "Matthew, do you want to go sit at the table for dinner, or do you want mommy to help you?" "Matthew, do you want to put your books away, or do you want mommy to put your books away?" If I ever just tell him to do something he absolutely won't do it until I have phrased it to sound like it's all him. It's quite the funny little quirk, but it gets rather frustrating and a little wearisome to the brain to think of how to word things. Ever phase has an end (I keep telling myself anyway). He is the cutest of little boys though and he has such a tender spot.
Katie is in the phase where she can roll from her back to her tummy, but not the reverse. I have finally weaned her of being bundled to sleep and so now she is free to go where she pleases in her crib. The bummer is that she does the roll in the middle of the night and I have to go in and roll her back over. She screams and screams until I roll her and then she goes right back to sleep. I have not resorted back to bundling, but I did go back to using the wedge that you use to keep them in one spot. Baby steps to being a big girl. Today she was in her walker playing with a rattle and ever time it made a rattling noise you should see the look of shock on her face. It was hilarious!

I gotta be honest that I love the way you write. It brings a big smile to my face. I love all your little children. I guess it is a good thing you didn't come over the other day so they did not get sick.:) have a good day. love you
hey i just tagged you mandi, check out my blog to see.
Ahh sounds like my good friend pink eye got your baby girl. You can actually catch pink eye from a cold bug getting in your eye so if the cold bug is in your house that's probably how she got it. But it goes away super fast and I have even been known to have my kids close their eyes and I rub some Neosporin into their closed eyelid/lash area, and it works! Although on such a young dear, I wouldn't try it.
Don't worry about Matthew, Tai is in such a phase it tests me everyday!
Oh man are your kids cute! you are so cute to me too. I love reading what you have to say. Hope the yucky sickness leaves your house soon I am so like you with the whole sickness thing. I stress so bad when Brayton would start to get sick. I stress alot though and wish I didnt but honestly what can I do?
Sounds like life is busy for you. I am sure having 2 boys so close in age can work against you sometimes but you do so well with it.
I am the same way about my kid getting sick, I hate to see her suffer and to feel so helpless. I hope the whole family is feeling better, sounds like y'all passed a nasty bug around!
